The sources confirmed the incident on Thursday, July 9, identifying the victim as Sayed Jan, a 38-year-old native of Siyori District.

According to the sources, he had been living in Qalat city and was working as a taxi driver.

He was killed on Wednesday evening in the Loy Shahr area of Siyori District.

The sources said Sayed Jan was first stabbed multiple times and then strangled to death.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.

The killing comes as former members of the Afghan security forces, human rights activists, and journalists have repeatedly been killed under mysterious circumstances by unidentified armed individuals since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan.

The Taliban have remained silent in many of these cases.
