Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Portugal national team, has said that he has not yet made any decision about retiring from professional football and that he will decide himself when the time is right to end his career.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday ahead of Portugal’s Round of 16 World Cup match against Spain, Ronaldo said that his full focus is on the upcoming game and that he does not want discussions about his future to distract attention from this important match.

He stressed that whenever he decides to retire, he will do so with a clear conscience because, in his view, he has given everything he could to football. He added that representing Portugal has always been a source of love, commitment, and pride.

Ronaldo also said that he has enjoyed this World Cup more than any of his previous five appearances and is satisfied with his performances. So far, he has scored three goals in the tournament.

The Portugal captain described Spain as the favorite because of its achievements and greater experience but emphasized that the World Cup is a different competition and that Portugal has every chance of defeating its rival.

If Ronaldo plays in the match, it will be his 233rd international appearance for Portugal. He concluded by expressing hope that the match against Spain would not be his final World Cup game and that Portugal would advance to the next stage of the tournament.
